Govt to procure 50,000 metric tonnes of wheat

The Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase has taken a decision to procure some 50,000 metric tonnes of wheat at a cost of Taka 1.14 billion.

The committee took the decision at its meeting at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at the secretariat on Sunday with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque said that M/s Swiss Singapore Overseas Enterprises Pte Ltd will supply the aforesaid quantity of wheat with per metric tonne of wheat costing around $268.14 (Taka 22.72 per kg).

The Purchase Committee meeting also approved seven other proposals including one for signing an agreement with Nippon Koei Bangladesh Ltd. as the consultant firm for the Japanese economic zone infrastructure development project at Araihazar in Narayanganj with a contract value of Taka 1.72 billion.

Besides, another proposal was approved to award a contract to Spectra Engineers Ltd. under the package No. WP-02 in the four-lane up gradation project from Hathazari to Raozan on the Chattogram-Rangamati highway with an estimated cost of Taka 2.15 billion.
