Govt aims to make country poverty-free in five years

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has said the present government is working with an aim to make the country free from poverty in next five years.

So, everybody has to give attention so that none is deprived off the benefits of development, he said at a function in Sylhet on Friday, reports BSS.

The foreign minister said none will remain under poverty if the country under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina.

The foreign minister asked the well-off people ad leaders and workers of Awami League to prepare a list of people suffering from extreme poverty in their locality.

Later , the minister distributed cheques of donations at Deputy Commissioner’s Conference room.

Talking to reporters after the meeting the foreign minister said The Rohingya issue is matter of great concern for Bangladesh. The government is trying for their repatriation, he said.

Deputy Commissioner M Qazi Emlaldul Islam presided over the function while spouse of the foreign minister Selina Momen and local officials and political leaders were present.
