Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Thursday asked all Bangladesh missions to keep their consular services open for 24 hours.

The foreign minister sent letters to all heads of the missions abroad in this regard, a foreign affairs ministry press release said.

He also directed the mission heads to create a database of the Non-Resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) as per the professions in their respective countries.

The foreign minister said it is necessary to take steps to bring positive changes at receptions and consular service rooms of the missions for improving the consular services.

He also directed all the missions to be sincere in improving consular and other services for the expatiate Bangladeshis.

Momen said remittance and foreign investment would increase if the NRBs are involved in the country’s overall development process. “In this regard, the success depends much on creating friendly relations with the NRBs through delivering proper services,” he said, reports BSS.
