Eid-e-Miladunnabi being observed with due solemnity

Holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, marking the birth and demise of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh), is being observed across the country on Wednesday with due religious solemnity.

On this day in 570, the 12th of Rabiul Awal of the Hijri calendar, Muhammad (pbuh) was born in Makkah of Saudi Arabia with divine blessings and messages of peace for mankind. He also passed away on the same day, according to a UNB report.

President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate statements greeting the countrymen and Muslims across the globe on this occasion, seeking eternal blessings for the people’s welfare alongside peace and harmony in the country and elsewhere in the globe, reports BSS.

The day is a public holiday.

Like previous years, different social, cultural, religious, spiritual, armed forces division, political organisations, and different state-run organisations including the Islamic Foundation (IF) have chalked out elaborate programmes to mark the day.

Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Radio are broadcasting special programmes highlighting the importance of the day. The Shishu Academy also organised special events for children marking the day.

The Islamic Foundation published an special supplement while the national flag has been hoisted in government, semi-government, autonomous, private buildings, and all the armed forces installations across the country.

Moreover, the National Flag and ‘Kaliya Teayiba’ written banner has also been hoisted in the important traffic zones of Dhaka city and the light posts.

Various organisations at upazila level hold discussions, milad, and doa-mahfil highlighting the life of the Prophet.

On this occasion of Eid-e-Miladunnabi, special diets are being served to all hospitals, prisons, old aged homes, government child welfare, and different rehabilitation centres.

Tight security arrangements have also been taken across the country to ensure a peaceful celebration of the Eid-e-Miladunnabi.
