DU student dies of dengue

A student of  Dhaka University (DU)  died of dengue fever at a private hospital in the city on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Firoz Kabir, a finance department student of 2013-14 session.

Kabir, hailing from Thakurgaon, was also a resident student of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall, UNB reports.

Hall provost Prof Mofizur Rahman confirmed the death saying that Firoz Kabir was first admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) with dengue fever.

Later, he was shifted to a private hospital where he breathed his last around 10:00 pm on Friday, he added.

 Firoz, a friend Iqbal Hossain and also a student of Finance Department, said Firoz had been undergoing treatment at DMCH’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for a week. He was shifted to Square Hospital on Thursday.
