The condition of Gonoshasthaya Kendra’s founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury has slightly improved.
An online medical board, comprising local and foreign doctors, has been formed for the treatment of Dr Zafrullah.
In a statement on Tuesday, Prof Brig Gen (Retd) Mamun Mostafiz said Zafrullah’s overall health condition is stable.
He also said the Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder’s condition did not deteriorate though he has been still given oxygen support.
“He’s feeling better than before, and Alhamdulillah he’s taking food on his own,” Dr Mamun said.
Zafrullah has been undergoing regular dialysis and chest physiotherapy, he added.
The condition of Zafrullah, who tested positive for coronavirus, deteriorated slightly on Thursday last after he developed breathing complications.
He has been receiving treatment at Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital in the city's Dhanmondi area under the supervision of Brig Dr Mamun Mustafiz and Prof Dr Najib.
Zafrullah, also a freedom fighter, underwent coronavirus testing with the kit developed by Gonoshasthaya which found him to be Covid-19 positive on May 25.
Four days later, a RT-PCR test at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) also found him positive for novel coronavirus.
He was given plasma therapy thrice to help strengthen his immune system in bid to beat the deadly virus, reports UNB.
