Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has formed a committee aimed at preventing the spread of the deadly coronavirus or COVID-19.
The DNCC panel mayor Md Jamal Mustafa will preside over the committee as its president, whereas Brig Gen Md. Momimur Rahman Mamun, chief health officer of DNCC, will serve as the as the committee secretary.
A meeting was held at 4:00pm Friday at the DNCC headquarters in this regard.
Md Jamal Mustafa presided over the meeting.
This committee will implement the directives of the national committee on coronavirus prevention.
Besides, the committee will take steps to raise awareness about the deadly virus and provide financial and logistical support, including quarantine.
The committee will consult with the national committee if necessary information on coronavirus is disclosed.
The mobile court will be conducted if necessary to ensure home quarantine.
Festivals and ceremonies at different community centres at DNCC areas will be closed to prevent public gatherings.
