Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Tuesday realised Tk 2.7 million in fines from traffic offenders in the city.
Besides, a total of 5,224 cases were also filed against different modes of vehicles for violating traffic rules, according to a DMP statement Wednesday.
Of the cases, 1000 were lodged for driving on the wrong sides, 97 for using hydraulic horns, three for using hooters and beacon lights, and nine others for using tinted glasses.
As for traffic violations by motorcycles, the traffic division filed 1952 cases and seized 102 motorcycles.
A total of 10 motorcyclists faced cases for using mobile phones while driving.
Apart from this, the traffic police also dumped 44 vehicles and wrecked 914 others during the drive.
