DMP arrests 30 drug suspects in special drive

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in a 24-hour-long anti-narcotics drive arrested 30 drug suspects from different areas of the capital for selling and consuming illegal drugs.

A special team of DMP, comprising Detective Branch (DB) of police and other law officials, conducted the drive in various places of the capital and seized 421 pieces of sedative yaba tablets, 190 grams heroin, 1.9 kg cannabis, and seven litres of local wine, according to a DMP statement issued on Tuesday.

A total of 23 cases were filed under the Narcotic Control Act against the suspects with the concerned police stations in the city.

The drive began at 6:00am Monday and ended at 6:00am on Tuesday (today), the statement added.
