DMCH's burn unit to be used for corona patients: Principal

Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) has decided to use its burn and plastic surgery unit for isolating COVID -19 suspects as well as lab for coronavirus test.

“People coming to the hospital with coronavirus symptoms will be isolated and tested at the unit,” Prof Khan Abul Kalam Azad, principal of the DMC, said on Friday night.

The decision was taken to ensure the safety of other patients at the hospital, he said, adding that those who are currently undergoing treatment at the burn unit are being shifted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. “It’ll take around two days.”

Bangladesh on Friday reported 94 new cases and six more deaths from coronavirus as both the number of infections and deaths continued to surge in the country, reports UNB.

The total confirmed cases in the country are now 424 and 27 deaths were reported from coronavirus as of Friday.

Meanwhile, the global death toll from coronavirus reached 95,794 as of Friday.
