A new circular bus service which will ply on Dhanmondi-Science Laboratory-New Market-Azimpur route was inaugurated on Wednesday, aiming to ease the traffic woes in the area and bring relief for commuters.
Primarily, there will be some 20 air-conditioned BRTC buses for the commuters which will pick and drop passengers from 36 bus stoppage points on the circular route encompassing the areas.
More buses and areas would come under the service gradually, authorities said, adding that the lowest fare has been fixed at Tk 10 while the highest fare is set at Tk 30.
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon inaugurated the circular bus service near Kalabagan Bus Stand while Dhaka North Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam and Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia, among others, addressed the event.
