DGHS witnesses major reshuffle: 28 officials transferred

The directorate general of health services (DGHS) has transferred 28 of its officials — all recruited during the 39th BCS.

Of them, nine were transferred to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and the 19 others to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital, local media reported on Monday citing a notice issued by DGHS Director (admin) Dr Belal Hossain on Sunday.

The transferred, all of whom are assistant surgeons, have been asked to join their new office by 12 noon on Tuesday.

The development comes days after Dr Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam was appointed as 27th director general of DGHS following his predecessor's resignation amid huge criticism and scams relating to Covid-19 tests.

Mr Hossain terms the reshuffle “routine”.

Of the transferred, according to the report, nine were attached to the DGHS, one to Dhaka Civil Surgeon’s office and the rest 18 to Bashundhara Convention Centre Grid Hospital, a mega field hospital set up to treat Covid-19 patients.
