Dengue claims woman’s life in Khulna

A woman died of dengue at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) early Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Sabita, 40, wife of Haradhan of Keshabpur upazila in Jashore.

Dr Shoilendranath Biswas, resident physician of the KMCH, said Sabita was admitted to the hospital with dengue on Sunday and she died early Tuesday.

With this, a total of 25 people have so far died of the mosquito-borne disease in the district.

According to offocial statistics, some 174 dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals across the country in 24 hours till 8am on Monday.

Since January, 97,730 people were hospitalised with dengue. Of them, 96,820 made full recovery, UNB reported.

The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research has received 248 reports of dengue-related deaths.

It has reviewed 171 of them and confirmed 107 deaths so far in the country.
