Customs recovers 12 gold bars from man's stomach in Benapole

Customs intelligence officials arrested a man and recovered 12 gold bars from his stomach at Benapole check post on Wednesday noon.

The arrestee was identified as Shaidullah Khan, 37, son of Altab Uddin, hailing from Karimganj upazila of Kishoreganj district.

Shaidullah was scanned with an X-ray machine after his suspicious behaviour led the lawmen to inspect him. A team of customs intelligence detected the gold bars and retrieved them from his stomach, said Nipun Chakma, assistant director of Benapole Customs.

The gold bars are reported to be worth Tk 6 million, according to UNB.

Shaidullah was handed over to Benapole Police Station and a case was filed in this connection.
