Customs officials arrested two persons along with three gold bars and 148 cartons of foreign cigarette from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital.
"We arrestee one Abdul Alim Bhuiyan with three gold bars weighing 616 gram worth about Taka 25 lakh from the airport around 11:25pm on Friday," said an customs official.
Alim, who went abroad 12 times this year, came to Dhaka from Dubai via Saudi Arabia on Friday night, he also added.
The customs officials also arrested another Dubai returned passenger Nazidul Islam and seized 148 cartons of Benson and Mond brand foreign cigarette from the airport on Friday midnight, he also said.
The estimated value of the seized gold is Taka 4.5 lakh, he added.
Legal action was taken to this end.
