Customs arrest man with gold bars at Dhaka airport

Customs intelligence this morning arrested a man with five gold bars, weighing 498 grams, at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

The arrested Md Noor Hossain came here from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Regent Airlines flight RX-783 around 11.40 am, reports BSS.

“Acting on a tip-off, customs intelligence members challenged him as he was crossing Green Channel area. Following further interrogation, he confessed carrying the gold bars inside his rectum. Later, the gold bars were drawn out from his body,” a customs intelligence release said.

The estimated cost of the seized gold bars is Tk 2.58 million.

Filing of case with Airport Police Station is underway.
