RAB arrests three over election manipulation charge

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Tuesday arrested three traders red handed with Tk 85 million in cash for their alleged involvement in distributing the money for manipulating the election.

The detainees--Ali Haider,  Zainal Abedin and Alamgir Hossain--- were arrested from a corporate office at the City Center in the capitals’ Motijheel area, said RAB.

RAB director general Benajir Ahmed in an instant media briefing said the perpetrators were caught with Tk 85 million in cash and a cheque of Tk 100 million from an office.

According to RAB, Ali Haider is the managing director of United Corporation, Alamgir Hossain is its office manager and Zainal Abedin is the proprietor of United Enterprise.

He said Tk 1.4 billion have been transacted by the three through bank accounts of United Corporation, United Enterprise and a Gulshan-based Amena Enterprise in the last two months.

But the RAB DG didn’t disclose the name of the political party at the briefing.
