Police arrests two in city for violating electoral code of conduct

Law enforces arrested two men on Monday for seeking vote in exchange of money ahead of the country’s 11th general election.

The detective branch members of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested the culprits—Shaheed, 52, and Mehedi, 45 -- from Shahzadpur area of the capital.

Police also seized Tk 400,000 from the arrestees . Shaheed and Mehedi admitted to keeping the money to buy votes for them.

Earlier, police, acting on a tip-off, conducted a drive after being informed that some people were violating electoral code of conduct by offering money at the area and arrested them.

A case is also being under proceedings to file against the offender.
