One arrested for vandalising Kali idol in Chuadanga

An idol of Hindu Goddess Kali was vandalised at a temple in Chuadanga’s Muktipara area on Saturday night.

Sardae Bhuimali, Chuadanga unit president of Bangladesh Harijon Manabadhiker Foundation, said Liton, son of late Mohammad Sheikh, hailing from Muktipara, attempted to flee the scene after smashing the idol of Kali.

But locals caught him red handed and handed over to police.

Harijan people got furious over the incident and demanded exemplary punishment for the accused.

Tozammel Haque, officer-in-charge at Sadar Police Station, said strict legal action will be taken by police against Liton.

A case was filled in this connection, according to a news agency.
