Bangladesh has registered 35 new deaths from COVID-19 in a day, the lowest since Jun 7, taking the total toll from the disease to 27,007.
The COVID-19 caseload rose to 1,534,440 as 2,074 people tested positive for the disease in the 24 hours to 8:00 am on Tuesday, according to the latest government data, reports bdnews24.com.
Dhaka registered the most daily deaths and new cases among the eight divisions, logging 15 fatalities and 1,469 infections. Chattogram tallied 8 deaths and 230 cases.
Nationwide, another 3,735 people recovered from the illness, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,486,668.
As many as 31,728 samples were tested across the country, for a positivity rate of 6.54 per cent. The latest figures put the recovery rate at 96.89 per cent and the mortality rate at 1.76 per cent.
Globally, over 225.31 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus and 4.64 million have died, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.
Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
