Covid-19: Bangladesh registers 23 deaths, 1,493 fresh infections

Bangladesh registered another 23 deaths from coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the past 24 hours to 8:00 am on Wednesday, taking the total number of fatalities to 5,861 in the country, according to official data.

Besides, some 1,493 fresh infections were recorded during the period, pushing the total case count to 403,079 according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

As many as 1,610 patients recovered from the Covid-19 during the 24-hour period, the release added, saying that the recovery rate rose to 79.32 per cent while the death rate remained at 1.45 per cent.

Among the deceased, 19 were men and four women.

The country tested a total of 12,357 samples in its 111 authorised labs during the period under review, bringing the total number of samples tested to over 2.2 million, according to the DGHS release.
