BOGRA, Nov 27: Simultaneous farming of two crops on the same land is gaining popularity in the district.
According to the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources, more than 560 hectares of land have been brought under the two crops cultivation process in the district. Farmers got good production from the method last year.
While visiting some areas this correspondent found numbers of farmers are growing early potato and leaf onion on the same land. They have also cultivated both red spinach and brinjal at the same time.
"I have brought 23 decimals of land under radish and spinach farming this season. I would start harvesting spinach within a few days," said farmer Anarul Islam of Adamdighi upazila.
Farmer Abdul Karim of Shibganj upazila said he is farming chilli and garlic on the same land. He said he got a good output from his cropland last year
Sub-assistance agriculture officer of DAE Faridur Rahman said farmers can grow two or more crops on the same land. It helps reduce production cost and time.
