Rangamati ‘gunfight’ leaves UPDF leader dead

Anol Bikash Chakma alias Pluto Chakma (42), a leader of United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) was shot to death in a reported gunfight in Bandukbhanga union of Rangamati Sadar upazila early Saturday.

After hearing several gunshots in the dead of night, locals spotted the bullet-hit body of Pluto at Dhamoirchhara in the morning and informed police, said Satyajit Barua, Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station.

Tipped-off, Police and members of Bangladesh Army visited the spot.

Pluto was the organiser of Bandukbhanga union unit of UPDF, reports a local news agency.

Earlier on December 5, another UPDF leader Anoti Ranjan Chakma was shot to death by miscreants in Bogachhori area of Naniarchar upazila.
