Rally on community policing focuses on effective action against drug peddlers

SYLHET, Sept 14: Speakers at a rally on community policing stressed strict measures against drug and militant activities with a target to keeping the law and order situation normal and peaceful in city areas.
Commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) Golam Kibria attended it as chief guest while Deputy Commissioner, South, Basdudev Banik, sadar upazila chairman Ashfaque Ahmed, Khadimpara union parishad chairman Afsar Uddin, Tultikor union parishad chairman Ali Hossain, Kandigaon union parishad chairman Nizam Uddin also addressed among others.
A good number of local leaders of political parties, social leaders and trade and business community people were present and presented suggestions for resolving traffic congestion at important places and demanding stern action against drug peddlers.
They also called for allout drive against drugs and militancy with support from the cross section of people.
