A domestic help of a police couple fell off the rooftop of a two-storey building in Khulna's Mujgunni area on Thursday night.
She was admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital with multiple injuries.
Physicians at the hospital described her condition as critical as she bore injury marks in the head and other parts of the body.
The reason for the fall remains a mystery as locals claimed that she was pushed off the roof while the police couple said she tried to commit suicide.
The victim is identified as Hafiza Khatun, 14, daughter of late Lokman Hakim of Mallickpur village in Terokhada upazila of the district, according to UNB.
She was employed as domestic help by assistant sub-inspector Mehedi Masud and constable Rubina of Labanchara Police Station, said Officer-in-Charge of Khalishpur Police Station.
Locals alleged that the teenage girl was pushed down from the rooftop of the building around 9pm.
Meanwhile, Rubina claimed that Hafiza was taken to a doctor on Thursday evening when the doctor found the evidence of sexual intercourse in her body.
"As we asked her about the matter after returning home, she ran towards the roof and then jumped off it," she said.
