Mob beats ‘cattle thief’ to death in Faridpur

An alleged cattle thief was beaten to death by a mob at Sadipur in Faridpur Sadar upazila on early Sunday.

The dead is Mati Sheikh (29), hailing from Bilmamudpur village.

Quoting locals, police said a group of cattle thieves, including Mati, entered Sadipur village riding on a truck around 3:30 am.

Later, they snuck in some houses in the village and started unbinding the cows.

Sensing the matter, villagers chased the cattle thieves, managed to catch Mati and gave him tremendous thrashing, said Officer-in-Charge of Faridpur Kotwali Police Station Nazim Uddin.

Mati died on his way to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, according to a local news agency.
