3 killed in road accidents in Chittagong, Jamalpur

Separate road accidents have left three persons dead and 17 others injured in Chittagong and Jamalpur.

In Chittagong, police have identified the dead as Mohiuddin and Probal Das. Both of them were 40 years old.

Mohiuddin lost control while driving his motorbike at Aulia Mazar Gate in Anwara Upazila and fell on the ground. Locals rushed him to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, adds ASI Alauddin Talukder of DMCH police outpost.

Two other riders of the same bike, 17-year-old Rabiul Islam and 25-year-old Tarek, are undergoing treatment at a local hospital in Chittagong.

The other incident has been reported from Hathazari Upazila. A car hit Probal Das while he was crossing a street in Nazu Mia Hat neighbourhood, the ASI confirmed bdnews24.com news agency.

“Locals brought him to the hospital where he was declared dead,” he said adding that the car fled the scene.

Another incident left at least 15 passengers injured when a bus plunged into a roadside ditch in Lahirikandi area of Jamalpur sadar upazila on Wednesday morning, confirms BSS news agency.

At that time, Gol Mahmed, 28, son of Ziaul Haque at village Mohanpur Beparipara, electrocuted when he touched a torn live electric wire, according to the Fire Service and Civil Defence officials.

The accident occurred on Mymensingh-Jamalpur road around 5:30 am when a bus hit an electric poll as its driver lost control over the steering.

Being informed, a fire service personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the injured passengers and sent them to Jamalpur General Hospital.
