A coronavirus patient who was undergoing treatment at Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital fled the hospital on Thursday.
Faruk Ahmed, in-charge of Osmani Medical College and Hospital, said a pregnant woman was admitted to the hospital and gave birth to a dead child on April 22.
The woman developed coronavirus symptoms at the hospital and the authorities collected her samples for coronavirus test. They confirmed on Thursday that the patient contracted COVID-19.
After getting the report, the woman left the hospital secretly, reports a news agency.
Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus cases in Sylhet division rose to 49 as 16 more people were diagnosed with the virus on Thursday, said deputy director of Osmani Medical College and Hospital Himangshu Lal Roy.
