Coronavirus: Cumilla district admin takes preventive measures

Cumilla District Administration, along with Cumilla Civil Surgeon, has formed a disaster management committee to face the crisis of coronavirus attack.

As per direction of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, they formed the committee headed by Deputy Commissioner of Cumilla Mr Abul Fazal Mir.

As the coronavirus detected, the country is on high alert. Now we have taken initiative to make an isolated coronavirus infected patient treatment unit in Cumilla General Hospital, said Dr Md Niatuzzaman, Civil Surgeon of Cumilla.

We held meeting with government medical college as well as other private medical colleges and hospitals to arrange 50 doctors to support any situation, he added.

“Our regular monitoring at Cumilla Bibir Bazar Land Port is going on. If we find any suspicious patient, we will take him under our medical isolation system.”

Immigration authority of the land port said, "There are about seventy people have passed in Indian border and about sixty five people entered in Bangladesh today (Tuesday)."

Journalists found a two-member medical team including a doctor and assistant have been working with thermal meter to check or detect body temperatures asking about the history of the visitors.

In the markets and medical stores in Cumilla, there are crisis of surgical masks. In some places masks are available in double/ triple prices.

The district information office has been distributing information leaflets on coronovirus.
