A worker was killed and two others sustained burn injuries in an explosion at a tyre repair factory in the city's Shyampur area on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Nasir, 35, a worker of Panama Tyre and Rubber Factory in Alibahar area.
Russel Shikder, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence control room, said the incident took place at around 9:53am when an air compressor of the factory went off with a big bang, leaving three on-duty workers injured.
On information, three firefighting units went there and took the injured to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), according to a news agency report.
Of the injured, Nasir succumbed to his burns around 10:10am, said Assistant Sub-inspector Abdur Rahman Khan of DMCH police outpost.
