Coaching centres in the country will remain closed during the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) written examinations, scheduled to be held from Apr 1 to May 6.

Education Minister Dipu Moni announced that on Monday at a press briefing at the secretariat, reports UNB.

The minister said the reason behind closing of coaching centres “is to ensure the exams are held in a free and fair atmosphere".

"All coaching centres will remain closed since we cannot take any special measures," the minister said.

This year, over 1.3 million students are expected to sit for the HSC and equivalent exams scheduled to begin from April 1.

The written tests will end on May 5. The practical exams will begin on May 12 and end on May 21.
