The capital will not face water scarcity during the dry season and Ramadan, the Muslim month of fasting, claims Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (DWASA).
"We're prepared to tackle the problem," DWASA Managing Director Taqsem A Khan told the media on Thursday.
He said Dhaka residents face water shortage in dry season and in Ramadan since the demand is higher during this period.
"The average daily demand for water is about 2.45-2.52 billion litres here. Wasa produces about 2.55 billion litres," Taqsem said. "Once in operation, the Tetuljhora-Bhakurta project will produce 150 million litres."
He claimed that 70 per cent slums are now getting pure water and the rest will be brought under fresh water coverage by December this year.
