A case was filed for burning a 14-year-old schoolgirl alive over mobile phone theft against seven people, making her aunt Beauty Begum prime accused, on Saturday night.

Father of the victim, Abdus Sattar, filed the case with Shibpur Police Station, mentioning names of four accused.

Sub-inspector Rafikul Islam who is investigating the case, said police arrested one of the accused, Tamuja Begum (55), wife of Firoj Mia.

But they couldn’t arrest the prime accused Beauty Begum as she went into hiding after the incident.

Earlier, the fifth standard schoolgirl Aziza Begum was allegedly set on fire by her aunt for ‘stealing a mobile phone set’ at Khainput village under Shibpur upazila in Narsingdi, reports UNB.
