Two young men were killed in a gas cylinder explosion at Srirampur village in Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria on early Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Bayezid Mia, 18, son of Shah Alam Mia; and Alamgir Hossain, 20, son of Khalil Mia of the village.

Ranjit Roy, officer-in-charge of Nabinagar Police Station, said the incident took place at a tea stall around 3am, UNB reported.

“A fire broke out after the gas cylinder exploded, killing two people on the spot,” he said. “The victims were sleeping at the tea stall when the blast took place.”

Locals and policemen rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze.

Police recovered the bodies and sent them to a local hospital morgue for autopsy.
