Barguna murder: Second accused on seven-day remand

A court has granted a seven-day remand to interrogate an accused in a case filed over Rifat Sharif murder in Barguna.

Md Sirajul Islam Gazi, senior judicial magistrate of Barguna, granted the remand on Wednesday, reports UNB.

Earlier, DIG of police Md. Shafiqul Islam informed that the accused, Rifat Farazi, was arrested on early hours of Wednesday.

Farazi, a son of Dulal Farazi of Dhansiri area of the district, is the number two accused in the sensational case.

Later, Md Humayun Kabir, Inspector of Sadar Police Station and the investigation officer (IO) of the case, produced Farazi before the court and sought a 10-day remand for interrogating him.

The main accused of the case, Sabbir Ahmed alias Nayon Bond, was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Barguna on Tuesday.

Rifat Sharif, 22, was hacked to death by criminals in front of his wife Ayesha SiddikaMinni in broad daylight in the district town on June 26. The incident was caught on surveillance camera.

Nine people, including six FIR-named accused, have so far been arrested over the murder.

On Monday, two accused -- Mohammad Oli and Tanvir Hossain -- reportedly confessed before a court here to their involvement in the killing.
