The number of confirmed Covid-19 patients surpassed 175,000 in Bangladesh on Thursday, 124th day of the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported 3360 new cases today, taking the number of such cases in the country to 175,494.
The state-run DGHS has also registered 41 more death from the deadly virus, taking the country’s total death to 2238.
Among the diseased, 29 were men and 12 women, while one was between 0-10, one was between 11-20, two were between 31-40, three between 41-50, eleven between 51-60, twelve between 61-70, nine between 71-80, two were between 81-90 years old, Additional Director General of the DGHS Dr Nasima Sultana said.
Twelve were from Dhaka division, fourteen from Chattogram, two from Rajshahi, six from Khulna, two from Mymensingh, two from Sylhet, and three from Rangpur division.
Thirty-eight people died in hospital, and three in their homes, the DGHS senior official added.
Simultaneously, 3,706 people recovered from the respiratory disease, bringing the overall number of recovery to 84,544, Dr Nasima said.
A total of 15,632 samples were tested in 76 labs across the country during the period. With this, a total of 904,784 samples have so far been tested in the country.
On Wednesday, 46 people died and 3,489 people tested positive for the highly infectious disease.
According to the state-run Directorate General of Health Services, 63,106 people now remain in both home and institutional quarantine while 17,067 others in isolation.
Globally, 12,180,570 people were infected with the novel coronavirus and 552,385 have died until Thursday 3:07 pm, according to Worldometer data.
Of the infected, 4,546,775 are currently being treated while 58,296 of them are in serious or critical condition, the website data shows.
