Banalata Express to run from Dhaka to Chapainawabganj

The Banalata Express, a non-stop intercity train service launched in April on Dhaka-Rajshahi route, will run on Dhaka to Chapainawabganj route from July 25 next.

Railway Minister Advocate Nurul Islam Sujan made this announcement at a meeting organised by the local unit of Shramik League at Sonamasjid Land Port under Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj on Friday, reports BSS.

The intercity train will be launched on Dhaka-Chapainawabganj route before Eid-ul-Azha to meet up the long-cherished demand of Chapainawabganj people, the minister added.

“We have also plan to bring the Sonamasjid Land port under railway network as per the commitment of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he added.

Chaired by local Awami League leader Nizamul Haque Rana, the meeting was addressed, among others, by district Awami League President Moinuddin Mondal and its General Secretary Abdul Wadud, Lawmaker Dr Shamil Uddin Ahmed Shimul, Ferdousi Islam Jeshi, Advocate Adiba Anjum Mita, District Administrator Nurul Haque, Additional Superintendent of Police Mahbub Alam Khan and Upazila Chairman Syed Nazrul Islam.
