Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman took over the office as the Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University (DU) on Monday.
President Md Abdul Hamid, chancellor of the universities, appointed Akhtaruzzaman for the next four years, according to the section 11(1) of Dhaka University Ordinance 1973, said a DU release.
“We will work together to make the university’s quality education and research activities more dynamic and to improve the ranking in the international arena”, Prof Akhtaruzzaman said while officially joining the office.
In order to fulfill these targets, he emphasised ensuring honesty, transparency and accountability in academic and administrative affairs, added the release.
Pro Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr Muhammad Samad, DU Teachers’ Association President Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal, Secretary General Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam, member of the senate SM Bahalul Majnun, Director of Public Relations office Mahmud Alam and Registrar Md Enamuzzaman were present, among others, reports BSS.
