Adv Al-Haj Kamal Khan’s 8th death anniv today

Today (Saturday) is the 8th death anniversary of Advocate Al-Haj Kamaluddin Ahmed Khan, known as Kamal Khan, a former member of the Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association and father of Anis A. Khan, vice president of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka (MCCI) and also a former Managing Director & CEO of Mutual Trust Bank Ltd. (MTB).

Kamal Khan was born in Chittagong city on February 19, 1927. He passed his BA from Chittagong College in 1947 and obtained the LL.B. Degree in 1962 from Chittagong Law College.

A philanthropist by heart, Mr. Khan was elected as the Secretary-General of Chittagong Central EidJamat and Graveyard Committee for organizing Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha congregational prayers in the city, and for setting up a graveyard in the port city, a position he served in for over fifty years.

He was awarded ‘The Governor of Bengal Medal’ in 1942 for his service in Assam during the Second World War.

He also served as Port Commissioner of Chittagong Port and as Honorary Chief Warden of Civil Defence, Chittagong. He founded the Patharghata Girl's High School, the first such school in the area.

On the occasion of the 8th death anniversary of Kamal Khan, relatives, friends and well-wishers are requested to pray for the salvation of his departed soul, says a media release.
