The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday seized Tk 2.5 million from a school in the city’s Jatrabari area for overcharging students to register for Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination.

Acting on a complaint on its 106 Hotline, an ACC team conducted a drive instantly at Jatrabari Ideal High School and seized the illegal money.

The anti-graft watchdog’s resistance and enforcement unit, led by assistant director Mohammad Jahangir Alam, took part in the drive.

The government fixed Tk 1,500 to register for 2019’s SSC examination. Some 637 students are participating at the upcoming SSC exam from this school.

The ACC team found the evidence of extra charge after reviewing registration papers of the school.

The school authorities will give the seized money back to the students on November 25 and 26 in the presence of the ACC officials.
