ACC files case against OMS rice embezzler

Anti-Corruption Commision (ACC) on Monday filed a case over embezzlement of OMS rice in Bogura.

Assistant Director of ACC Mohammad Aminul Islam filed the case against OMS dealer of Shibganj upazila of Bogura Md. Mashiur Rahman, ACC spokesman Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya said.  

According to the complaint, the accused added the names of 17 recipients twice or even thrice in a list of 538 names for whom he took away a total of 710 kg of rice, of which 140 kg was not entered in the register.

ACC also informed that a campaign has been launched to arrest the accused, reports UNB.

In this regard, ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmood said, “The Commission has already warned everyone about this. However, every person who embezzles from the government's social security programs and relief goods will be brought under the law.”

"It started from Bogura. Wherever complaints are received, legal action will be taken. No one will be exempt. In this case, the ACC will follow a zero tolerance policy, " he warned.

The chairman also called upon all officials in positions of responsibility to perform their duties with honesty.
