The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Wednesday submitted charge sheet before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court accusing 25 people in BUET student Abrar Fahad killing case.

Investigation Officer of the case, DB Inspector Waheduzzaman, submitted the charge sheet, Additional Commissioner and chief of CTTC unit Monirul Islam told reporters at a briefing at the DMP Media centre, reports UNB.

Abrar Fahad, 21, a second-year student of electrical and electronic engineering of BUET, was beaten to death reportedly by Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders at Sher-e-Bangla Hall of the university.

He was found dead on the staircase of the hall in the early hours of October 7 after he was taken to the room No-2011 at around 8:15pm on October 6 and beaten mercilessly.

Abrar's father Barkatullah subsequently started a case against 19 people with Chawkbazar police, according to a bdnews24 report.

Police have so far arrested 21 suspects in connection with the case, while four other accused remain absconding.

BUET authority expelled the suspects temporarily and banned organisational politics on the campus following protests after the incident.
