65-day ban on fishing in Bay of Bengal from May 20

The government has imposed a 65-day ban on fishing in the Bay of Bengal from May 20 to July 23.

The ban has been put in place to preserve fish stock and ensure proper breeding of sea fishes, according to a notification of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock.  

Catching, carrying, hoarding, trading and transportation of all kinds of fishes will be banned during the period and authorities concerned urged all to co-operate with the administration in order to meet their goal.

The restriction will cover Moheshkhali and Kutubdia areas.
