As many as 298 children were raped and 153 others murdered during the period between January to July 2020, says a report released by a child rights organisation.
Last year some 1,005 children were raped while some 448 others murdered, according to Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum (BSAF).
However, the child rights organisation could not collect data from 15 March-15 April 2020 due to the lockdown for Covid-19 crisis imposed by the government.
The number of total rape and murder incidents was 85 and 201 respectively in 2012 while 150 and 180 in 2013, 199 and 366 in 2014, 521 and 292 in 2015, 446 and 265 in 2016 and 593 and 399 in 2017.
