250 sued over jute mill workers’ clash with cops in Khulna

A case has been filed against 250 people in connection with Thursday's clash between police and jute mill workers at Natun Rasta intersection in Daulatpur upazila of Khulna district on the last day of the their 72-hour strike.

Sub-inspector of Daulatpur Police Station filed the case on Thursday night for carrying out attacks on police that left four policemen injured, said additional deputy commissioner of police Sheikh Maniruzzaman.

Earlier, 20 people, including four policemen, were injured in a clash between police and jute mill workers in the upazila on the last day of the 72-hour strike enforced by the state owned jute mill workers, reports UNB.

The jute mill workers started their 72-hour strike by blocking roads and rail routes from 8:00am-12:00pm to press home their nine-point demand including implementation of a wage commission from Tuesday last.
