This year, the nation's biggest investment strategy competition, 'MetLife presents Capitalizer'22' was organised by BUP Finance Society under the Department of BBA in Finance and Banking. The event commenced on 4th November with the online case-solving round, 'Crack the Case,' with the registered 130 teams. Each team submitted their online case solution utilising its basic mathematical acumen.
Following the end of round one, on 6th November, 36 teams of the enrolled 130 had successfully moved to the next round, 'Deal behind the Bars', to showcase their financial skills by forecasting, analysing and ensuring the sustainability of a given venture. From the valiant battle among the 36 teams, 6 teams were screened out to battle for the ultimate conquest of MetLife presents Capitalizer'22 champion title.
The Grand Finale of MetLife presents Capitalizer'22 took place last week on 1st December, at Hotel Le Meridien. Honourable Chairman of Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA), Mohammad Jainal Bari, was the event's chief guest, and Major General Md. Mahbub-Ul Alam, the Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Professionals, was the Guest of Honor. Respected Senior Vice President of Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, and Vietnam- Madam Elena Butarova & Muhammad Ala Uddin Ahmed, the CEO of MetLife Bangladesh, graced the evening as the special guests.
The judging panel consisted of the Deputy Managing Director and CFO of MetLife Bangladesh, Mr Ala Uddin, Member Life of Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority, Mr Quamrul Hasan, and the Director- Finance Excellence and BPC Finance of Unilever Bangladesh Ltd, Zinnia Huq. After the 6 teams, each presenting their solutions with formidable vigour, Team Adverse Selection from Bangladesh University of Professionals became this year's Champion. Team Overwriters from Dhaka University and Team Floor Price from Dhaka University came to win as the 1st and 2nd Runners-up, respectively.
The Champion team, 'Adverse Selection,' consisted of Nafis Kazi, Mahima Tabassum, and Tahmid Ahnaf Arnab from the Bangladesh University of Professionals. To express their feelings right after the result announcement, the team said, "This is our last business competition as undergraduate students. We were not sure if we were to win as champions. We just wanted to give it our best shot. Now, winning the champion title has given us the best conclusion to our last conquest as a team. We got the reward of our hard work and sleepless nights."
With Financial Express as its associate partner, the event closed its curtains for the fourth time this year since its inception in 2018.
The club president, Abi Rawan Arko, expressed his gratitude towards the honourable guests from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority and MetLife, respected judges, the Vice Chancellor, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Deans, and faculties from Bangladesh University of Professionals. He expressed his high hopes for BUP Finance Society and its future events in the days coming ahead.
