Dr Muzammel Haque Chowdhury, a professor of Computer Science and Engineering at Jahangirnagar University (JU), died of lung cancer.
He breathed his last on Monday morning while undergoing treatment at Sydney in Australia, according a statement of the public relation office of the JU.
Prof Chowdhury left behind his wife, two daughters, relatives, colleagues and a host of well-wishers to mourn his death.
Late Chowdhury, also an alumna of the JU, has been suffering from lung cancer for last few years. He was an inhabitant of Mohanganj thana in Netrokona district.
In her condolence speech, JU Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Farzana Islam said the demise of Muzammel Haque has caused an irreplaceable loss to the university and the nation.
