The increasing economic activities of the country over the years are working as catalyst in driving the insurance sector forward.
The sector, in return, is demonstrating a surge of economic activities in the county over the past years.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith shared this view on Friday while speaking as the chief guest at an inaugural ceremony of the two-day "Insurance Fair-2017" at Kobi Nazrul Auditorium in the capital.
"Insurance is a step against risk. We can get a scenario of the country's economic development from the expansion of the insurance sector," he said.
As per a BSS report, Muhith said insurance has already reached in different upazilas across the country as the government is providing supports to expand this sector.
The minister also handed over cheques for Tk 60 million to the customers of Jiban Bima Corporation, Green Delta Life Insurance, Guardian Life Insurance, National Life Insurance, Fareast Islami Life Insurance, Meghna Life Insurance and Delta Life Insurance for their insurance claim.
State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan attended the function as the guest of honour while Additional Secretary of the Financial Institution Division Manik Chandra Day was present as the special guest.
Chairman of the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority M Shafiqur Rahman presided over the function.
