The World Bank has forecasted Bangladesh's economic growth at 6.4 pc for the fiscal year 2021-22, which is 1.3 percentage points higher than the earlier projection.

In June last, the Washington-based global lender projected the country's gross domestic product (GDP) at 5.1 per cent (GDP) for the current fiscal ending in June 2022.

"In Bangladesh, continued recovery in exports and consumption will help growth rates pick up to 6.4 per cent in the FY2022," the Bank said in the update of its latest South Asia Economic Focus titled 'Shifting Gears: Digitization and Services-Led Development' on Thursday.

Bangladesh government has meanwhile set a growth target of 7.2 per cent for the current fiscal.
