The International Monetary Fund has projected that Bangladesh's GDP would grow by 6.0 per cent in fiscal 2022-23.

The latest World Economic Outlook, released on Tuesday by the fund, show Bangladesh would achieve 6.9 per cent GDP growth in 2027.

Meanwhile, the outlook projected that the inflation rate would reach 9.1 per cent in the current fiscal.

IMF’s GDP growth projection for FY 2021-22 was 7.2 per cent and 6.9 per cent for FY 2020-21.

The outlook pointed out that a third of the world economy will likely contract by next year, marking a sobering start to the first in-person IMF and World Bank annual meetings in three years.

"The three largest economies, the United States, China and the euro area will continue to stall," IMF chief economist Pierre-Olivier Gourinchas said in a statement. "In short, the worst is yet to come, and for many people, 2023 will feel like a recession."
